Renowned as "Mr. Fisher Island," Robert Volé, a longtime resident and passionate advocate, has dedicated himself to enhancing the lives of residents and visitors on Fisher Island. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the community, with projects and proposals like VANDERBILTPARK.org that have shaped the island's progress over the years. As the founder of the Fisher Island Presidents Council and a former member of CC16 and FI MAC, Volé's commitment to the betterment of our island community runs deep.

One of his recent endeavors, which began in the fall of 2019, is the development of the New Ferry Terminal-West concept. Months of meticulous work and design have gone into crafting a vision for a new chapter in Fisher Island's future. The renderings presented serve as an exciting first step, and Volé eagerly seeks feedback from residents, their families, friends, and neighbors to further refine this vision.

Envision, if you will, welcoming residents, friends, family, and invited guests to our island through a truly world-class facility. This transformative project aims not only to enhance aesthetics but also to provide a remarkable experience. As you approach the terminal, you'll be greeted by a bronze sculpture capturing the historic moment when Carl Fisher exchanged Fisher Island for William Vanderbilt's yacht, the "Eagle." The elegant Fisher Island logo illuminates the entrance, while beams of radiant light serve as indicators of the ferry's status—widening and creating a captivating display when docked and shining through the sky when at sea.

The project encompasses various highlights, including a brand-new Coffee Bar, an Information/Welcome Desk, and a renovated Security Office, all designed to provide modern and cozy spaces with top-notch service. However, the true gems lie on the second floor and rooftop decks, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and the dazzling Miami skyline.

The new terminal boasts additional functionalities, such as a Welcome Center, a Coffee Lounge with Outdoor Seating, a Rooftop Deck, covered luxury seating for visitors and staff, an upgraded Security Office, a touch screen information point, and vending machines catering to both residents and guests. Furthermore, there are plans to introduce a bike share service, allowing residents and visitors to explore the island or venture out to South Pointe or Miami Beach on two wheels.
